Small Cobalt Blue Paisley Lidded Bottle

Made in 2007 Sold – private collection

This is an intentionally small bottle with a tiny button top to contain the swirling paisley patterns. The psychedelic cascades of cobalt blue are symbolic of twisted tear drops.

Coil built in red Staffordshire Earthenware clay and decorated with coloured slips. Slip trailing, painting and scraffito techniques were used in the decoration. It is the first piece to be made on this theme. Glazed with a transparent high gloss glaze to 1120 C° and fired in an oxidation firing.
